Through this new function users can exchange photos, videos and GIFs with brands using Viber’s internal camera. Viber, one of the world’s most popular messaging applications, announces new functions that will allow businesses to serve customers better and give users an opportunity to chat with brands like they would with friends. The function is already available to users who have updated their application. The new feature will help them to manage meaningful conversations with brands and easily solve ongoing issues: for instance sending their ID cards to authenticate themselves or terminate a registration. “With improvements to our voice call quality and our video calls interface, plus fun features like animated stickers, we are growing and maintaining a strong global user base by increasing engagement within the app”.Viber is rolling out a new function with the help of which users will be able to send photos and videos to businesses. “This update makes it easier for people to share richer content within their messages,” said Eyal. Rounding off the update is the introduction of more than 500 sticker packs for users to choose from, which are available worldwide. Viber users can now share contacts from their phonebooks via a Viber message, and the recipient can easily save the information. URL links can also be dropped into a chat, with a preview of the content. Other updates includes changes to the way users can share contacts and content within the app. The company says an audio call now requires 48KB of data per minute on a 2G connection. This increases to a maximum of 244KB a minute on 3G and a maximum of 416KB per minute on 4G or Wi-Fi. The updates also place an emphasis on keeping data usage “down to a minimum”, when using the app. Viber said almost 250 million video calls are made on the app each month, and its latest update provides users with more intuitive triggers for starting video calls from various places within the app.
